Access Turnstile Video:

What is access turnstile?

An access turnstile is a type of security barrier that is often used to control access to buildings or other secured areas. Access turnstile typically consists of a rotating barrier that is mounted on a pedestal or other support. When someone wants to enter the secured area, they insert a card, fingerprint, QR code or other type of token into a reader that is connected to the access turnstile. The access turnstile then rotates to allow the person to pass through.

What types of materials are used to make access turnstiles?

Access turnstiles like tripod turnstiles and full height turnstiles, their frames and barriers are mainly made of stainless steel.

For swing barrier, flap barrier and speed gate, stainless steel or aluminum alloy is often used to make their frame, while other materials like acrylic and tempered are used for the barrier body.
Acrylic is a lightweight, impact-resistant plastic that is strong, transparent, and easy to clean. Tempered glass is also very strong and impact-resistant, but has the added benefit of being scratch-resistant and transparent. Both materials are also cost-effective and can be customized in terms of size, color, and shape, offering a wide range of possibilities when it comes to customizing the look of these kind of access turnstiles.

How much space is needed for a access turnstile to be installed?

The amount of space needed for a access turnstile to be installed will depend on the quantity, size and type of it. There are several different types of access control turnstiles available, including full-height, and half-height access turnstiles. Generally, a full-height turnstile will require a larger area than a half-height or waist-height turnstile.

Generally, a full-height access control turnstile will require a space of approximately 2-3 meters in width and 1-2 meters in depth. The height of the turnstile will also need to be taken into consideration when calculating the required space.

Access Turnstile Dimension
For a waist-height turnstile, the space requirement will be reduced to approximately 1-2 meters in width and 1-2 meters in depth. Half-height turnstiles such as tripod turnstiles and speed gates are the smallest type of access  control turnstile and typically require a space of 1-2 meters in width and 1 meter in depth.

It is important to consider the quantity and size of the access control turnstile when planning the installation. Then, how do you know the quantity of access turnstiles are required? Please check our 2023 ultimate guide of turnstile gates

The access turnstiles should be installed in an area that is easily accessible to the public and that is not obstructed by other objects. Additionally, the area should be well lit and free of potential hazards.
